OAS

Ocmulgee Indian Mounds, Macon, Georgia Welcome to the Ocmulgee Archaeological Society.

We are a chapter of the Society for Georgia Archaeology. The Ocmulgee Archaeological Society was established in 2003 to serve the inhabitants of the Greater Middle Georgia area. The purpose of the group is educational and scientific, and the OAS is a chapter of the Society for Georgia Archaeology, whose purpose is “to unite all persons interested in the archaeology of Georgia and to work actively to preserve, study and interpret Georgia’s historic and prehistoric remains.” The OAS is committed to documenting Middle Georgia’s archaeological sites and artifacts, both pre-historic and historic, terrestrial and underwater.

Browse the site to find out more about events and projects in which the OAS is involved, then join us at our next meeting.
