Forsyth Artifact ID Day, August 23rd

August 23 – 11-3 pm at the Old Depot building in Forsyth(Monroe Co.).

Thanks to the Monroe County Historical Society for helping to set this up!

OAS members David Mincey, John Trussell, and Stephen Hammack went to Forsyth on Aug.23 to assist the Monroe County Historical Society (at their Old Depot Museum) with another day of fun.  There we had about 25 folks drop in with their points and pottery and historic tobacco cans and small historic ceramics (see attached photos).  We saw one Dalton point, but did not record it since it was from Florida.  David Mincey, Sam Lawson, and Stephen Hammack also attended the SOGART Archaeological Symposium on Aug. 9th in Douglas, GA, where a whole range of great talks were heard.

Again, if you have not attended this great day of down home friendship and invigorating discussion, try to make it next year.  It is well worth the effort!
