Roberta attorney and life-long Bibb County resident in Macon and Lizella. Served 3 years in Marine Corps. Found first Indian artifacts scattered around grandparents home. Began surface collecting in vicinity of family farm in 1950s, and later at Old Macon Waterworks site. Collection contains artifacts from Bibb and Twiggs County, and includes a rare Bibb County Clovis of Ridge and Valley chert.

Retired from Atlanta Gas Light and lives in Monroe County. Married with two children and six grandchildren. Served in Marine Corps for 4 years. Was inspired to archaeology at a young age by his grandfather's artifact collection, and has recently learned of his Cherokee and Creek ancestry.

 

Resides with wife Billie and son Trent in Warner Robins (Houston County). Retired as Chief Probation Officer of Houston County Judicial Circuit, Author of more than 500 newspaper and magazine stories and book Road Biking Georgia. Became interested in archaeology as a child upon finding Indian artifacts in his front yard. Hooked since 3rd grade visit to mounds.

Mr. Hammack is the professional center of OAS.  He is the lead archaeologist for Robins Air Force Base and volunteers his time with the society to keep us on track. His enthusiasm for archaeology is such that he cannot leave it at work, so he spends time arranging OAS events, keeping the membership informed of items of archeological interest around the state and in his spare time, he is the association’s secretary.
